VISITING ST CUTHBERT`SAccessibility:
The Church is accessed by a sloped path, with hand rail from the street, there are no steps.
Most of the building is easily accessible for wheel chairs and push chairs. Two steps, again with hand rails lead to the Chancel.
As well as normal audio amplification a deaf aid loop is in operation during services. To use this facility deaf aids normally need switching over to T position. There is a disabled access toilet.
The Church is normally open from 2pm to 4pm every Saturday and Sunday but please telephone to check before making a special journey. Group visits are welcome and can be arranged for any day by telephoning 01704 530959. Introductory talks and guided tours are available, please request when booking. Special interest groups welcome eg local history, family history, parish outings, schools and quiet days. There are information sheets available.
There is no charge for visits but donations are very welcome. Coffee/tea and biscuits can be provided for groups at a small cost. Afternoon teas are also available for booked groups, please ask for menus and prices.
DIRECTIONS TO ST CUTHBERT, NORTH MEOLS
The Church is on the B5244 to the North of Southport.
From Ormskirk:
Follow the A570 to Southport. As you approach Southport there is a long wide stretch of 40mph restriction through Scarisbrick, before you have a small roundabout followed almost immediately by a large roundabout.(Tesco and McDonalds on the left and B&Q on the right) At this roundabout take the 4th exit-Sign post Preston and Churchtown.
Follow this fairly straight road (Meols Cop Road-
Norwood Road-Norwood Avenue) There is one set of pedestrian lights outside Meols Cop School then three sets of traffic lights all of which you pass straight through.
At the next set of traffic lights, a T-junction turn right- sign post Preston and Churchtown.(Roe Lane) follow this road to the roundabout.* turn left (Mill Lane) then left at the mini roundabout(Manor Road)
At the next roundabout turn right (Cambridge Road) The Church is on the left just after the pedestrian crossing.
From the Liverpool direction:
Follow the A565 to the centre of town. Drive towards Preston along Lord Street. Turn right at the roundabout at the northern end of Lord Street
Fire Station on the left. Straight through traffic lights, Holy Trinity Church on the right. (Manchester Road)
Straight through the next set of lights, Leyland Road Methodist Church on left. Continue along this road, now Roe Lane to the roundabout.
Then as above.*
From Preston:
On entering Southport via the A565 turn left at the roundabout. Plough Hotel on the left.
Follow Rufford Road, St John`s on the left, into Bankfield Lane and pass Botanic Gardens on the right. The Road bears to the right, the Hesketh Pub on the right, and the Church is set back on the right beyond the Pub.
The Church has no car-park of its own. Parking is on the roads near the Church.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
From the train station in Southport Town Centre
go to Lord Street for the number 49 bus to the Botanic Gardens. (The bus stops just past the Church)

St Cuthbert`s will once again, be taking part in
Heritage Open Days
The Church will be open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday- 11th 12th & 13th September from 11am to 4.30pm and on Sunday 14th September from 12noon to 4.30pm.
This Grade II listed building dates from 1739 but was substantially altered in 1860 and 1908
Fine wooden carvings in the Chancel came from St Peter`s pro-Cathedral in Liverpool. There are memorials to the Fleetwood and Hesketh families
and attractive stained glass most of which is twentieth century including one window by Carl Edwards. The only nineteenth century stained glass depicts St Paul preaching in Athens and is by William Wailes.
